Risen from the Core

This game was made in 72 hours for SpeedJam #5 under the theme "ascend". It follows a slime who was born out of the core of the planet and must now "ascend" to the surface. All sprites, code, level design, and music were created by me, nile4. This is my first game jam and the first game I've ever published anywhere, and any critiquing or suggestions is much appreciated! It's a very small prototype right now, though, so many game mechanics and design ideas that I have in mind are not implemented. Have fun!

Very cool and unique, I love amount of movement techniques and they all fit well into levels. Will say I couldn't find the nest (before fullscreening), and also I don't understand the "dash into the lizard 3 times". I dashed 3 times from below, ahead, and from above and nothing happens?. Also jump/run sfx would be sick.
Otherwise amazing, especially for your first game jam :)
You should be able to dash into the lizard three times from the right and he'll die. Then right after is one of my favorite parts! :0 Sorry I didn't make that very clear! Thanks for letting me know, and I'm glad you liked it!
READ THIS!!!: The text on the very first screen should say “press space to begin” but for some reason it just won’t show up on itch.io no matter what. Sorry about the confusion!
fun game! the music is super cool and i like the style of it. if its zoomed in and you cant play it try downloading it instead, i did that at it worked great. it was a little laggy so i didnt get very far but thats just the fault of my computer i believe. i think some more checkpoints would be beneficial. all in all it was a great cute game i enjoyed it very much! :)
I wasn't able to get past the first section because my character was offscreen. I really like the music though, its really catchy!
Oh no! Did you try using full-screen?
i think i had the same problem as you, but the framing was correct in the downloaded version if youre willing to try that
